December is moving image video and a series of sculptures inspired by the Himmeli,
a Finnish Christmas decoration made from straw. Derived from himmel meaning sky,
the Himmeli was a traditional agrarian mobile hung in the home above the dining tables
as an auspicious motif for abundant crops in the coming year.

The sculptures created by a cluster of threaded straws stained with sumi ink represent
a material calligraphic line that oscillates between a two dimensional and
three-dimensional form.
